ANALYSIS OF THE DYNAMICS OF MEDICINE CONSUMPTION FOR TREATING PATIENTS
WITH HIV IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
Introduction: Medicines for HIV treatment are listed as strategically important. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, research on
optimizing the consumption of antiretroviral medicines (ARVs) is aimed at achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. The
primary goal is to enhance treatment accessibility and improve the epidemiological situation.
Objective: To analyze the dynamics of ARV consumption in Kazakhstan from 2018 to 2022.
Materials and Methods: The study was based on data from the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, international sources, and
analytical reports. Statistical methods, including time series analysis and the ATC/DDD methodology, were applied.
Results: Trends were identified in replacing original ARVs with high-quality generics manufactured according to GMP
standards. Between 2018 and 2022, the physical consumption of ARVs increased by 54.74%. In 2022, the main supplier was
India, accounting for 71.48% of ARV supplies.
Conclusion: Expanding the ARV assortment, utilizing high-quality generics, and strengthening pharmacovigilance contribute
to improving treatment accessibility and stabilizing the pharmaceutical market in Kazakhstan. Diversification of supply
sources and intensification of import substitution processes are necessary.
