PEDIATRIC RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY WITH STENT IMPLANTATION FOR COMBINED LACERATION OF EYELID AND
LACRIMAL SYSTEM
Resume. Canalicular lacerations are a type of trauma that results in the medial angle of the eyelid detachment and impaired
functionality of the lacrimal system. Primary surgical treatments are performed by ophthalmic emergency services, who
often lack the skills to operate on the lacrimal system. Nowadays, there are no unified tactics for ocular adnexa injury
treatment in Kazakhstan, depending on the wound characteristics; there are still no studies describing the long-term function
of these patients. Therefore, we present two pediatric cases of posttraumatic lacrimal duct atresia management with eyelid
reconstructive plastic surgery and implantation of a silicone stent.
Keywords: lacrimal system, nasolacrimal stent, reconstructive surgery.
