STUDYING THE FATTY AND AMINO ACIDS COMPOSITION OF COUSINIA UMBROSA BUNGE
Introduction. Plants of the genus Cousinia umbrosa Bunge. (Asteraceae family) possess significant biological potential, but
their chemical composition remains insufficiently studied. Fatty acids are biologically active compounds with antimicrobial
and pharmacological properties.
Methods. The study analyzed the aerial parts of Cousinia umbrosa Bunge., collected in the Turkestan region, Kazakhstan. The
amino acid and fatty acid composition was determined using gas-liquid chromatography.
Results. Linoleic acid (53.5%) was identified as the predominant fatty acid, followed by oleic (35.4%) and palmitic (6.5%)
acids. Amino acid analysis revealed a high content of glutamic acid (2340 mg/100 g) and aspartic acid (1105 mg/100 g), which
play a key role in metabolism.
Discussion. The high content of unsaturated fatty acids and biologically significant amino acids suggests that Cousinia umbrosa
Bunge. has potential pharmacological applications, particularly in anti-inflammatory and antibacterial drug development.
Conclusion. The study confirmed the presence of biologically active compounds, making Cousinia umbrosa Bunge. a promising
raw material for the pharmaceutical industry.
Keywords: Cousinia umbrosa Bunge., fatty acids, amino acids, linoleic acid, chromatography, pharmacological properties.
