EXPERT COUNCIL: TOPICAL ISSUES OF DISEASES OF THE UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT
Resume: The purpose of this Expert Council is to assess the current situation in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal
reflux disease and its complications, providing up-to-date data based on the latest world recommendations and practical advice developed
during the Expert Consensus process.
Taking into account the contribution of upper gastrointestinal tract pathology to the overall structure of gastrointestinal cancers, there is a
need to provide recommendations for the management of this category of patients by gastroenterologists, primary care physicians and other
involved specialists to prevent dysplasia and malignization of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Methods: The best practice recommendations presented here have been developed based on a combination of available evidence from the
published literature and Expert Consensus. No formal assessment of the strength or quality of the evidence has been made. The purpose of this
article is to provide practical advice to primary care physicians as well as gastroenterologists and allied professionals in the Republic of
Kazakhstan.
