Abstract. The article presents the results of optimizing ultrasound-assisted extraction conditions for obtaining a dry extract from Chelidonium majus L. (greater celandine) and describes its alkaloid profile.

Materials and Methods. The raw material consisted of dried aerial parts of the plant collected under natural conditions. The dry extract was obtained using ultrasound-assisted extraction followed by freeze-drying (lyophilization). Alkaloid content was determined using thin-layer chromatography and GC–MS.

Objective: To develop an optimal technology for obtaining a dry extract of Chelidonium majus L. and to determine its alkaloid profile.

Results. It was established that ultrasound-assisted extraction increases the yield of extractive
substances and reduces extraction time compared with maceration. The extract was found to contain biologically active alkaloids such as stylamine, protopine, chelidonine, coptisine, and berberine.

Conclusion. The developed technology for producing a dry extract can be recommended for the
preparation of herbal medicinal products based on Chelidonium majus L.
