Introduction. Improving the accessibility and quality of pharmaceutical care within the outpatient drug provision system requires the implementation of standardized organizational approaches in pharmacy units. The lack of unified procedures, fragmentation of medicine dispensing processes, and insufficient internal quality control lead to increased service time, higher dispensing error rates, and reduced patient satisfaction. In this context, implementation of Good Pharmacy Practice
(GPP) principles is considered an effective tool for optimizing pharmaceutical services.
Materials and Methods. A quasi-experimental pre–post study was conducted in 2025–2026. The study included pharmacy units of outpatient healthcare organizations (n = 22). The organizational intervention was based on authordeveloped methodological recommendations and a system of six standard operating procedures (SOPs). Effectiveness was assessed using indicators of service time, waiting time, dispensing error frequency, operational traceability, and patient satisfaction (n = 200). Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics with calculation of absolute and relative
changes in the indicators.
Results. Implementation of GPP principles resulted in a reduction in patient service time from 10–15 to 5–7 minutes (~40–50%) and a decrease in waiting time from 30–60 to 10–20 minutes (2–3-fold). The frequency of dispensing errors decreased from 8–10% to 1–2%. Operational traceability reached the highest achievable level within the applied internal control system. Patient satisfaction increased from 62–68% to 85–92% (+25–30 percentage points).
Discussion. The findings demonstrate that organizational implementation of GPP principles contributes to optimization of pharmaceutical processes, improvement of medicine dispensing quality and safety, and enhancement of pharmaceutical care accessibility within the outpatient drug provision system.
Conclusions. Organizational implementation of GPP principles improves the operational efficiency of pharmacy units and may be considered a practice-oriented tool for improving the outpatient drug provision system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
